I received 8 votes on the issue of whether or not to pay speakers for their travel to our meetings.
Here are the results:

Issue #1.
Most of us agree that we should reimburse speakers for coming from far away places to speak for our club. We should have guidelines in place for what is appropriate re-imbursement. Note that speakers always have the option to refuse any payment. Please select one of the choices below.

0 votes - Speakers get payed nothing for speaking for our club
5 votes - Speakers coming from 100 or more miles away should be reimbursed $50.00 for travel costs.
3 votes - Speakers coming from 100 or more miles away should be reimbursed $100.00 for travel and overnight accommodations. If a club member offers to put the speaker up for the night, the speaker should still be reimbursed $50.00 for travel costs.

Issue #2.
We have discussed changing the name of the Bird Club from “The Allegany Bird Club” to “The Allegany and Garrett Counties’ Bird Club”. This has come about because we have a lot of members from Garrett County and there is no MOS Bird Club Chapter for Garrett County. Vote yes if you want to change the name of the club to “The Allegany and Garrett Counties’ Bird Club”. Please choose one of the choices below.

The no vote came with a suggestion to change the name to "Highlands Ornithological Society". One of the yes votes also had a suggestion to change the name to "Western Maryland Bird Club" which we had considered when we first started talking about this a year ago. We decided that Western MD should technically also include Washington County so we didn't explore that name further.

I also recieved two more identical late votes for offering $100 and yes to the name change.
